Running Pants Types
From wind pants to spandex, the advantages of each
Depending on your preferences, there are a variety of options available when looking to purchase a new pair of running pants. While the most important thing is to make sure they are warm running pants, there are a few other factors to break down.
First, you can consider loose running pants. These can be nylon running pants, or wind pants, but they definitely give you a lot more room to breathe. Spandex can be uncomfortable for men and may keep you too warm on mild days. These pants are great for the fall or chilly mornings, and for short leisurely runs that won't be affected if they break the wind some.
Moving slightly further, semi-loose running pants are more closely formed to your body, flowing with you as you move. These work well for most conditions, working as a more aerodynamic pair of running pants that can handle both cold days and warmer weather.
On the farthest extreme are spandex running pants. These are body fitting, causing some discomfort for men, but also providing incredible warmth. As a man, it's probably best to wear a pair of shorts over the spandex running pants to avoid any discomfort with the visual, but they are definitely worth it for the warmth.
